Our approach
Sustainability at BioCina is supported by our environmental, health and safety (EHS) framework, responsible business practices and commitment to continuous improvement.
Across our operations, we’re focused on managing environmental risk, maintaining safe working environments, improving resource efficiency and strengthening how we manage our environmental practices.
Managing environmental impact and risk
Our environmental approach centres on responsible operations, regulatory compliance and reducing our environmental footprint across both sites.
Energy and resource efficiency
Our Perth site is supported by a 999 kW solar installation, reducing our reliance on grid electricity and improving overall energy efficiency. We continue to look for similar opportunities across our other operations.
Climate and emissions
We’re completing a carbon footprint assessment to establish our current emissions profile and identify priority areas for future reduction.
Environmental licensing
Our Adelaide site operates under an environmental licence issued by the South Australian Environment Protection Authority (EPA), supporting our ongoing compliance with conditions covering emissions, discharge and waste management.
Environmental risk and compliance
We identify and manage environmental risks across our operations, and comply with applicable environmental laws and regulations.
Environmental management
Environmental considerations are built into our EHS management approach, supporting consistent practices and accountability across our sites, including our commitments under the Australian Packaging Covenant for responsible packaging, resource use and waste management
Our commitments
Working against recognised standards
We use recognised frameworks and independent assessments to strengthen our approach to sustainability, environmental performance and governance.
This includes membership of the UN Global Compact Network Australia, supporting internationally recognised principles covering human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption, and EcoVadis Committed status, providing an independent assessment of our sustainability practices and a benchmark for continued development.
We’re also committed to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and are developing climate targets in line with its framework, ahead of validation.
